Root over rock is a well established bonsai style and something you’ll see quite frequently. Here is an example of this style applied to a dwarf umbrella bonsai – quite effectively.

The tricky work is done and now you still have an easy to care for beginner level bonsai that will do well indoors yet looks a little more exotic.
